What causes people to act the way they do? Motivation is one of major personal skills that are integral to our daily lives in a variety of situations. This course looks at why we do the things we do. It examines the motives and the drives that stimulate individuals to take action. Sample topics include intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, self-determination, efficacy, goal-setting, achievement motivation, positive psychology. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to better understand the power of motivation and position themselves with the subject knowledge base of motivation study.


Upon successful completion of the course the students will be able to:

1. Describe various motivational theories and techniques, applicable across a variety of situations
2. Identify factors that affect your own motivation.
3. Explain the effects of interpersonal and interpersonal characteristics on motivation.
4. Practice diagnosing motivation problems among individuals and groups.
