Know your Visa Type
K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization)
- Required for all nationals coming from visa-free countries/regions.
- Some nationals may enter Korean with K-ETA but may be restricted for studying purposes. In this case, please apply for the C-3-1 visa below.
C-3-1 (Short-term General Visit)
- Eligible for individuals intending to visit Korea for a short period to participate in events and meetings or to obtain skills through a Korean organization.
D-2-8 (Short-term Study Visa)
- Eligible for individules who inted to study in Korea for a certain period
- As D-2-8 is the most complicated visa, please consult the Consulate for C-3-1 or K-ETA before applying for this visa.

Request relevant documents to HISS Office
The office can provide the below documents for visa purposes.
- C-3-1: Certificate of Business Registration, Invitation letter, Admission letter
- D-2-8: Certificate of Enrollment
- Students are responsible for securing the appropriate visa before entering Korea to participate in the Hanyang International Summer School.
- If their nationality is covered under a visa waiver agreement with the Korean government, they do not need to obtain a student visa. More details can be found on the K-ETA website.
- Otherwise, students must visit the nearest Korean Embassy or Consulate to obtain either a D-2-8 Short-term Student Visa or a C-3-1 Short-term Visiting Visa.
- Eligible applicants who have paid the application and tuition fees and submitted the required documents will receive the necessary supporting documents for their visa application from the HISS Office.
- A soft copy of these documents will be sent to the applicant’s email address.
Before applying for K-ETA
Although some nationalities are eligible for the K-ETA, it does not guarantee entry for study purposes. Therefore, it is recommended to consult with the Korean Embassy before applying for a K-ETA. If necessary, please consider applying for a C-3-1 or C-3-9 visa to ensure a smooth entry into the country.
If the student has been advised to apply for a student visa, please submit the below documents by post to our office at least 6 weeks prior to the first day of the program.
- Passport
- Valid until 2025.08.31. (6 months or longer from the end date of the program)
- Official Academic Transcript
- English version with university logo or stamp
- Showing all semesters an applicant has completed
- Health Insurance Certificate
- Written in English and indicating the applicant as beneficiary
- Cover the entire trip in Korea (International coverage)
- Financial Affidavit
- Download the Financial Affidavit Form attached to the email
- Must submit with a proof document
- Certificate of Enrollment
- [Other Nationals] Verified through Apostille or Consular authentication from the Embassy of Korea
- [Chinese National] Verified through China Higher Education Student Information (CHSI)
- High School Graduation Certificate
- [Other Nationals] Verified through Apostille or Consular authentication from the Embassy of Korea
- [Chinese National] Verified through China Higher Education Student Information (CHSI)
